The festive season is just around the corner. It is a time to be with family and friends, to eat and to be merry. I think there is a perception that healthy food is boring. Nothing can be further from the truth.
Healthy recipes can be delicious, quick and easy to prepare and enjoyed by the entire family.
There are even yummy and healthy desserts for those that have a sweet tooth. That’s why I chose to share this avocado chocolate mousse recipe, which is dairy and gluten free.
This is one of my favourite go to recipes and is always a winner. The bonus, it’s so easy to make! I hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
Prep: 15 minutes
¼ cup real maple syrup
½ cup water
2 medium sized avocados (300g flesh)
1 tsp pure vanilla essence
¼ tsp ground cinnamon
½ cup good quality cocoa powder
Juice of ½ small lemon
Put all the ingredients in a food processor and mix to combine. Refrigerate until required. You can serve it with raspberries and sprinkle with nuts and seeds, and it can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week.
Avocado is a good source of healthy fat. They contain potassium, vitamin E and B vitamins.
